Summer 2010

Since I have some FREE time, like literally I am able to have free access to the internet, I decided to post about my time in Dominican Republic.I am finding out that nothing in here is cheap, in fact, outside of the beautiful resorts resources are dismal and the cost of living here is outrageous.

The whole country is under severe weather conditions, but that has not stopped me from getting out. I'm going to hold off the water and the "pretty" parts of the country until the weather gets better. But until then, enjoy some pictures.

In the downtown center you can find souvenirs of all kinds.

More walking in the center on a rainy day.

Walking UP the hill.

Old fortress and more rain.

The view driving from the airport.

1,000 pesos, less than $40 in the U.S.

A leather bracelet with my name engraved on it.

High rates of deaths here are caused from vehicle accidents.

Selling platanos

The river

*This picture right here captures probably the best part of my experience so far. Getting around town is crazy! People will just pick you up and you have to pile in a Corolla with about six or more people in it. The driver takes your money and you tell them where you want to go. You can only get out on the right side. People are crazy on the streets...there are no street signs and no one puts their signals. Loved it.
