Good Girls Finish Last

Hellz Bellz makes the best streetwear apparel for females. In this post I thought I'd bring back the shirt of all shirts: The Good Girl Gone Bad T-shirt by Hellz Bellz and In4mation. It's pretty difficult to find any images of this shirt since this dropped a while ago, but I freaking love this t-shirt. I pretty much stop wearing this t-shirt (hence the wrinkles and pink sweat pants) but it has always been a standout piece in all of the Hellz Bellz collections because of the applied meaning. Everything about Hellz Bellz screams middle finger in the air. For all you suckers who let a good girl go, don't worry, we're not really gone forever. : P

Highs and Lows: How To Make It In America

This past Sunday after coming back from watching Shutter Island, I tuned in to the HBO series, How To Make It In America. I got to admit, the only reason I watched in the beginning was because of this Emo-rap star Kid Cudi. However, after like two minutes into it, I got sucked in. The show features a friendly storyline about two guys who get hipped to a nice hit of denim material and seek a denim manufacture to start their denim line, CRISP, while trying to pay debts and stay afloat in the 'it's not what you know, but who you know' business of the society we live in today. Pretty dope! Kid Cudi stars as Domingo in the series, but the real Hispanic is one of main characters, the son a of a Dominican mechanic, Cam Calderon. Dope!

Color Scheme: Red

There's nothing that brings a smile to my face like a fresh young man and a red hat. Random? Yes. My personal preference? Of course! Something about the color red screams confidence when worn with an outfit. Especially if it is a stand-alone piece like a watch or a solid red shoe, expect to make a statement of some sort. Pharrell is a great example of someone who uses red to make a statement. Others like Kanye, of course, do it justice--- his sneaker line featured a red shoe and his red heart brooch definitely influenced fashion in the past year. The use of colors in fashion can play up an emotion or an expression, and the color red screams fearless, competitive, confident, 'hey look at me', type of feel that I love. My next post shall be about purple, my favorite color, and what it says about the individual who wears it. It's interesting to see that fashion can be a science, but don't take it too seriously.

I'm currently obsessing over denim! Adding to that is this pretty neat overall piece from Free People which is perfect for an occasion like a day walking in the city. Scratch the saddle shoes, pair with tan or black sandals, add some accessories and create a relaxed boho chic look on super clean white. Can't wait for spring!

The Moral Of The Story Was....

Patiently waiting for the completion of Rick Ross's video for the track Mafia Music 2 featuring Chrisette Michelle. Great music if you ask me. You can't hate on that folks.....

Nothing On My Back But The Delicates Of Fabrics

A lightweight jacket is essential for the spring! Not only because you will want to enjoy the weather, but because you can layer a hooded sweater or thermal shirt underneath without feeling bulky if it gets brisk. I enjoy the simple aesthetics of the quilted jackets and vest pictured here. The middle picture is definitely my favorite, It's a quilted gilet vest from J. Crew that is $195.

The Magazine Clutch

The magazine clutch idea has been around for quite a while but I never took it upon myself to buy one seeing that it can easily be a do-it-yourself item. I love that you can add sophistication and a vintage feel to an outfit just by wearing this handbag. There are so many versions including Vogue, Bazaar, Elle,Essence--you name the mag and there might be one. This is def. a fashionista item even though they are very hard to find (mainly on eBay or special boutiques). I would need a Complex and Latina one. That would be DOPE.

Drug Free School Zone Revisited

When I did this project I had no idea how to work a regular 35mm still picture camera. Felt pretty old school doing it. I did this while I was volunteering at a soup kitchen around my school. I found inspiration in a young man who was a guest there while I was serving food and helping out. He had a positive outlook on life despite some shortcomings. I wanted to display the everyday struggle of just being and still being able to crack a smile at the end of the day. We went around the outskirts of New Brunswick to shoot around where he spends most of his time at. I still think the images came out pretty dope and captured his story. Loaded some more black and white film into my camera the other day...ready to give it another go.
More images from the project here.

Remix

I've never been a fan of conventional things, especially not clothing. Denim is universal but it doesn't have to be cookie-cut. Selecting a a good jean can be a challenge, especially for me, but if you go for something more edgy like the denim track pants pictured above, you can add a funky/effortless look to any outfit. Not all bottoms can be worn easily- like harem pants!I just don't get those things.

Ghetto Fab

What is up with all these 30-year-old's demolishing the trendsetting game? I guess with age comes exquisite taste. Pictured here is Fabolous at the airport after the Grammys. I personally like this guys style, but I want to know, for guys, is it too extravagant to throw on designers labels like this Gucci leather jacket and belt that he is wearing all at once (he also had a Louis Vuitton book bag and suitcase)?? Tasteless? Flashy? Also, peep the Timberland construction boots...don't call it a comeback just call it ghetto fab...

Urban Outfitters varsity jacket.

Free People lace v-neck and cargo pants.

Asos lace up boots.

Even though clothing stores are already displaying the newest fashions for spring, it is never too late to purchase a few things for the remainder of the cold season. I saw these pieces and thought they could be worn in the winter and in the spring time when it gets a little cooler.
The jacket is not too heavy or light and the boots are in style and could be worn by women if you can find the right ones. The lace top just delivers a feminine flare to a rather rugged look but any regular shirt will do. Most of these posts reflect my personal style so like i always say, "it's just my opinion."

A couple of things have been catching my eye lately as well:

-versatile watches
-premium denim
-black leather jackets
